Vernon Linwood Howard (born March 16, 1918 in Haverhill , Massachusetts , † August 23, 1992 in the USA ) was an American writer and representative of a spiritual philosophy.

Life

Howard began working as a freelance writer in the 1940s. First he published humorous texts, children's books and advisory literature . From the late 1950s onwards he increasingly turned to topics of psychology and spirituality , having dealt with Christian and Indian mysticism as well as the teachings of Georges I. Gurdjieff , Carl Gustav Jung and Jiddu Krishnamurti . He was also influenced by transcendentalism and the new spirit movement . In his related books and lectures, Howard taught methods of mindfulness and contemplation that should enable people to live powerful and fulfilling lives. Howard combined the method of positive thinking with the visualization of stories.

Vernon Howard assumed that God works in every human being, using a very broad concept of God: “The following concepts all mean one and the same thing: God, goodness, sanity, truth, decency, happiness, freedom, reality, peace , Love, Sensitivity. ”Critics note that this makes“ a happy person to God ”.

In 1979, Howard founded the New Life Foundation, a foundation that aims to encourage people to help themselves psychologically and spiritually through lectures and seminars.
