Vernon Sapergia

Vernon "Vern" Sapergia (* 1946 in Moose Jaw , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian western rider .

Career

Since his parents ran a cattle ranch and the horses were used for work, Sapergia rode from an early age. At the age of ten he had already ridden and trained several horses. Years later, he rode bulls and competed in rodeo .

At western tournaments in North America he won in every discipline and participated in all major tournaments. In reining he was Canadian champion, European champion, winner of the German futurity and second in the Italian futurity.

At the 2010 World Championships in Lexington (Kentucky) , he finished 5th in the team with his daughter Shawna Sapergia and Duane Latimer .

Private

With his wife, the German western rider Sylvia Rzepka , he has lived in Mitterndorf , near Vienna, since 2001 .

His children Cody , Terry-Lee and Shawna are successful riders themselves.
