Veronika Hammer

Veronika Hammer (* 1961 ) is a German social scientist and university professor .

Life

Hammer first completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk from 1977 before doing a commercial job in the chemical industry . In 1988 she began studying social pedagogy at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg . There she received the Johann Kaspar Zeuss Prize for excellent scientific work in 1993 for her thesis Women after the Family Phase - an orientation course . This was followed by studies in sociology at the universities of Bamberg and Vienna. In 1998 Hammer was awarded the Johann Kaspar Zeuss Prize for excellent scientific work for the thesis The Multimedia Family .

From 1998 she worked as a research assistant at the University of Bamberg and the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt , among others , as well as on various excursions abroad. In 2004 she received her doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. with the work The Transformation of Cultural Capital - professional training for risk groups of single women among others with Theresa Wobbe at the Political Science Faculty of the University of Erfurt .

After her doctorate, Hammer was head of the age management projects MEZ Mastering the future with experience and AQUA aging-appropriate qualification , specialist moderator in the project for the integration of older long-term unemployed Pakt50 for Nuremberg and coordinator of the demography forum at the Research Institute for Company Education in Nuremberg. Further practical and research activities in the field of social work followed.

In 2006, Hammer accepted the professorship for social work science, social science fundamentals (sociology) and methods of empirical social research at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences .

Research priorities

Hammer conducts research in the areas of institutional social work , integrated social planning and single parent research . She also evaluates research projects, for example in the field of cultural education.
