The administrative community Wasungen was in the Thuringian district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen . The city of Wasungen and two communities had come together in it to carry out their administrative business. The administrative seat was in Wasungen.

The administrative community was founded on June 1, 1991. The dissolution took place on June 29, 1995 through the amalgamation of the member communities with the member communities of the administrative communities Walldorf and Amt Sand to the administrative community Wasungen-Amt Sand based in Wasungen .
