In the administrative community Wasungen-Amt Sand in the Thuringian district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen , the city of Wasungen and three other municipalities have come together to handle their administrative business.
The administrative association is based in Wasungen .
Historical namesake are the Henneberg offices , later belonging to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , Wasungen and Sand , to which most places belonged.

history
The administrative community was formed on June 30, 1995 from the merger of the administrative communities Amt Sand , Walldorf and Wasungen . The Schwallungen community joined the administrative community on January 1, 2012. As part of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019 , the member communities Wallbach and Walldorf left the administrative community on January 1, 2019 and were incorporated into the city of Meiningen . The member communities Hümpfershausen , Metzels , Oepfershausen , Unterkatz and Wahns were incorporated into Wasungen at the same time.
