Veselin Đuretić

Veselin Đuretić (born May 17, 1933 in Mojanovići near Podgorica , Yugoslavia ; † February 18, 2020 in Belgrade , Serbia ) was a Yugoslav or Serbian historian .

He was an employee of the Balkanological Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts . In his 1985 two-volume book Saveznici i jugoslovenska ratna drama (The Allies and the Yugoslav War Drama) he justified the collaboration of the Chetniks with the German occupiers in World War II and called for the rehabilitation of the Chetnik leader Draža Mihailović . Đuretić was excluded from the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia and sales of the book were stopped.

In the 1990s Đuretić was close to the Serbian Radical Party . His book has been widely received by nationalist historians since the 1990s.
