Vestal Ridge is a steep and 2240 m high mountain ridge in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Quartermain Mountains it forms the watershed between the Mullins Valley and the Farnell Valley .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1993 after James Robie Vestal (1942-1992), a microbiologist at the University of Cincinnati from 1983 until his death and chairman of the division of the National Science Foundation's Polar Program from 1990 to 1991, who dealt with the adaptation of microorganisms to the extreme conditions in Antarctica .
