The Association for Physical Exercise Nagold is the largest sports association in Nagold . In 1934 the gymnastics club (TV) Nagold, (re) founded in 1860, and the sports club (SV) Nagold, founded in 1911, merged to form VfL Nagold. The documents in the city archives suggest a compulsory merger within the scope of conformity by the Nazi regime .

It consists of 16 departments with around 1,700 active members.

Popular sport

In addition to the swimming and winter sports departments, which also offer swimming and skiing courses for popular sports, the following departments and courses are brought together under the umbrella of VfL Nagold:

badminton

Founded on April 1, 1979 in Rohrdorf near Nagold , it was previously assigned to TSV Rohrdorf. The team was promoted to the district league in 2015, but has personnel problems to set up a team.

basketball

The department was founded in 1964 as the Teufel Lüftungsbau company team. Her greatest success was in 1983 when she was promoted to the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga.

Soccer

The first team currently plays (as of the 2019/20 season) in seventh class. She last played in the sixth class Verbandsliga Württemberg in the seasons 2015/16 and 2018/19. The second team plays (as of the 2018/19 season) in the Böblingen / Calw district league (eighth league).

The youth departments range from E1 (U10 / 11) to A1 youth (U19). The U19s play in the Oberliga, the U17s in the Nordsaffel Nord (WFV) and the U15s in the Landesstaffel 1 (WFV). (Status: 2018/19 season)

Handball

The handball department had been a department of a predecessor club of VfL Nagold since 1927. The first men's team plays in the Achalm-Nagold district class, the women's team in the district league. In addition, numerous children's and youth teams are registered in the male and female area. The head of department is Jessica Günther.

karate

In January 1974 the karate department of VfL Nagold was founded under the name Shotokan Karate Dojo Nagold . In 1994 the department changed from the German Karate Association (DKV) to the German JKA Karate Association (DJKB). In 2014 Till Schäberle became vice world champion at the WKC ( World Karate Confederation ) World Championship.

athletics

An athletics department had existed in what was then the predecessor club SV Nagold since 1922. Head of department is Hans Barucha.

swim

In addition to the competition group, this department also organizes training for recreational swimmers and swimming courses for children.

Winter sports

The racing group in slalom and giant slalom competes in the Black Forest / Südwestalb district cup in Riefensberg. Inline skating is also part of this department. The ski school offers ski and snowboard courses. In addition to fitness and ski gymnastics, walking and Nordic walking as well as a running club are open to the public.

Sports facilities

The Reinhold-Fleckenstein-Stadion (formerly: Eugen-Breitling-Stadion), named after a sponsor, is located on Calwer Strasse and is owned by the city. It includes an artificial turf pitch for the soccer department, as well as a lawn and a (blue) tartan track for the athletics department.

The town hall, the sports hall of the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium , the Lemberghalle in Hohenberger Straße, the Hohenbergerhalle, the Bächlenhalle in Max-Eyth-Straße, the iceberg hall and the gym in Nagold's Iselshausen district are available for indoor sports.

The swimmers use the Lembergbad in Nagold and the indoor pool in Altensteig-Walddorf, depending on their ability level.
