The Verein für Leibesübungen Oberbieber eV is a German sports club founded in 1881, based in the Oberbieber district of the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Neuwied in the district of the same name .

Soccer
post war period
The first football team rose to the 1950/51 season in the then second-class Rhineland regional league . With 25:35 points in the North Season, they just managed to stay in the league at the end of the season. For the next season , the league was then third-rate and at the end of the season also converted into the now single-track amateur league Rhineland. For this only the five first clubs of the North season qualified, with 27:33 points and tenth place, the performance of VfL was not enough, so the club had to relegate to the fourth division.
Current time
In the 2002/03 season the club as played SG Oberbieber together with the VfL Wied Niederbieber / Segendorf in the district league Rhineland, had due to a structural reform of the divisions at the end of the season in ninth place in the Kreisliga A dismount. With 70 points, however, the championship immediately succeeded and with it the direct promotion. Back in the district league, however, you couldn't hold out longer than a season, with 36 points you had to go straight back down through 13th place.
For the 2005/06 season the syndicate was then dissolved again. With 63 points, the championship including direct re-promotion is now successful here alone. This time, however, the league could be kept and with 42 points placed sixth even in the upper half of the table. After the 2008/09 season, the career in the district league with 28 points over the 14th place was once again over and the team had to relegate to the district league A. The ascent should not be successful for the time being, after the 2011/12 season things got even worse and the team rose with 14 points over 13th place, then even further down to the district league B. Here, after the 2015/16 season, the championship finally succeeded and with it the return to the district league A. The club continues to play here to this day.
