The VfR Aachen-Forst (officially: Association for Lawn Sports Aachen-Forst 1919 eV ) is a sports club from Aachen , Forst . The first soccer team took part in the DFB Cup twice.

history

The association was founded in 1919. After the Second World War , the club first played in the district class and came third in 1948. The descent in 1954 could be corrected immediately by the rise again. In 1962 it went back down to the 1st district class, which, apart from the district class season 1968/69, should become the home of the club. 1975 the Forster reached their sporting low point with the descent into the 2nd district class. Two climbs in a row brought the VfR 1978 back to the district league before the rise three years later in the division succeeded. There the Forster were runner-up behind the GFC Düren 09 in 1986 . In 1987, 1988 and 1990 the VfR was third in the national league. Then things went downhill for the team. In 1996, the Forster rose to the district league before moving to the district league A five years later. Since then, the first team has played in the Aachen district league A.

Sporting highlights in the club's history were the two participations in the DFB Cup. The first participation was in the DFB-Pokal in 1983/84 , when the club met Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln in the first round and lost a clear 1: 6 in front of 6,000 spectators. The second participation followed in the 1987/88 season , when VfR met Karlsruher SC in the first round and lost 4-0 in front of 2,000 spectators. Both DFB Cup games took place on the Tivoli .
