The VfR Langelsheim is a sports club from Langelsheim in the district of Goslar . The first men's soccer team played for two years in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony and took part in the DFB Cup once.

history

The association was founded on March 15, 1927. The sporting upswing began in the late 1970s. Two rises in a row brought the VfR 1979 in the district league Braunschweig . After an interim relegation, he returned to the district league in 1984. At the time, a deaf goalkeeper, Hagen Kopp, played for VfR. In 1985 Langelsheim won the Lower Saxony Cup after a 4-2 win after extra time over VfL White Elf Nordhorn . VfR qualified for the DFB-Pokal, where the Langelsheimers met DSC Wanne-Eickel from the Oberliga Westfalen in the first round . In front of 2,500 spectators, the guests from the Ruhr area won 5: 2.

In 1987 he was promoted to the Landesliga Ost . A year later VfR reached the final of the Lower Saxony Cup again, but this time lost to TSV Verden 2: 5. In 1991 the Langelsheimers were two points ahead of TuS Bodenteich champions and were promoted to the association league . The Upper House of Lower Saxony, however, was a size too big for the club and VfR had to be relegated immediately as the bottom of the table. In addition, liabilities of 100,000 Marks plagued the club, which returned to the district class in 2000. A year later, they were promoted to the Braunschweig 3 regional league. In the 2012/13 season, VfR was relegated to the Northern Harz league.
