The Viba sweets GmbH is a medium-sized confectioners from flea Seligenthal in Schmalkalden-Meiningen ( Thuringia ).
history
In 1893 Willi Viebahn and his sister Anna Reim founded a coffee house in Schmalkalden . In 1920 the production of nougat and marzipan began , which was then sold throughout Germany. In 1927 its own factory was built, which in 1935 had 350 employees and manufactured 500 products. In 1958 the company was partially nationalized and in 1972 fully nationalized. The VEB nougat and marzipan factory was also producing fruit slices as early as 1967 . In addition to the in-house specialist staff, sports medicine specialists and national trainers from the GDR were also involved. In 1989 the company got its old name Viebahn Süßwaren again . In 1992 the company was privatized through sale and renamed Viba Süßwaren GmbH in 1996 . In 1997 the company moved from Schmalkalden to Floh-Seligenthal. In 2002 the company presented itself under the name Viba sweets GmbH. After an extensive brand and product relaunch, the brand received a new outfit. Since 2004, the company has been building up its sales network , which currently (as of 2015) consists of around 44 branches . In 2012, after around 18 months of construction, the Viba Nougat World was opened in Schmalkalden on February 5, 2012 . In 2013 the Viba Erlebnis-Confiserie & Café opened in the Altmarkt-Galerie Dresden . Since 2014, Viba has been co-branding new product ranges . These include a. the nougat milk and the Viba nougat ice cream. In July 2016, Viba Sweets took over Confiserie Heilemann in Woringen im Allgäu; the total turnover of the group rises to 50 million euros, the number of employees to 450. In 2019, the subsidiary Heilemann Konfiserie was the first German industrial manufacturer to process Ruby chocolate .

Trivia
On September 15, 2000, Viba produced the world's largest nougat stick. It weighed 750 kg and was 3 m long and 50 cm in diameter. It is a recognized Guinness record.
On February 12, 2012 a railcar of the Süd-Thüringen-Bahn was provided with an advertisement for Viba.
