Victor Anthony Toweel (born January 12, 1928 in Benoni , Gauteng Province , South Africa , † August 15, 2008 in Sydney , Australia ) was a South African bantamweight boxing world champion . He boxed in the left window.
successes
On March 26, 1949, Vic Toweel won the South Africa bantamweight title. In the same year Toweel won the vacant South Africa flyweight title. On May 31, 1950, Toweel won the bantamweight championship belt at the age of just 22. In a fight in which he had to defend the world champion belt, he defeated Danny O'Sullivan by technical knockout in the tenth round. His opponent was previously on the ground 14 times. 1952 Vic Toweel lost his belt in the 15th title defense by knockout in the first round.

End of career
After Toweel lost his belt in 1952, he got a rematch four months later. He lost again by knockout in round 10. He won the next three fights twice, then ended his career at the age of only 26.
