Vicent Presiac , in modern Catalan Vicent Presiach , Spanish Vicente Presiach , (* 1673 in Morella , † April 1, 1726 in Montserrat Monastery ) was a Valencian composer , organist and master of the Valencian Chapel and choirmaster of the Escolania de Montserrat .

life and work

Vicent Presiac completed his musical training in the Escola de Montserrat from 1683 under the direction of Joan Garcia . In 1689, after his voice broke, Presiac entered the Benedictine order. The musicologist Baltasar Saldoni emphasizes his “remarkable and extraordinary commitment to music and musicology”, which is why he was also appointed choirmaster of Escolania and master of the chapel. Presiac also acted as a "traditional" musicologist and music theorist. In these functions he took a decided position in the discussion about the modern Missa Scala Aretina by Francesc Valls .
