Vicente Mendiola Quezada

Vicente Mendiola Quezada (born March 7, 1900 in Chalco de Díaz Covarrubias , † 1986 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican architect and painter.

biography

Mendiola Quezada, son of Martiniano Mendiola Flores (1870-1954) and his wife Raquel Quezada Fragoso, attended school in Toluca and studied from 1918 to 1924 at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (ENBA) in Mexico City.

From 1926 he lectured at the ENBA, after which he then taught at the Escuela Nacional de Arquitectura (ENA) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México until 1986 . He was also a retired master of urban planning, building history, drawing and design at the Universidad La Salle . He was also a member of the Society of Mexican Architects ( Sociedad de Arquitectos de México -SAM) and a founding member of the College of Architects of Mexico City ( Colegio de Arquitectos de la Ciudad de México -CAM) and the Sociedad Mexicana de Geografía y Estadística .

Mendiola Quezada has received several awards for his architectural and painterly work. Today a street in Mexico City is named after him. A memorial commemorates him in his hometown. His daughter María Luisa Mendiola is also an architect.
