Victor Maurel

Victor Maurel (born June 17, 1848 in Marseille , † October 22, 1923 in New York City ) was a French opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

He received his musical training at the Paris Conservatory and in 1868, at the age of twenty, made his debut at the Paris Opera . Five years later she made her first appearances in London. Throughout his life, Maurel enjoyed an excellent reputation for his exceptionally well- trained voice and his acting talent.

Maurel was selected by Giuseppe Verdi for the world premieres of Otello and Falstaff and set standards for the interpretation of Italian opera and the stage works by Richard Wagner .

Later in his life he worked as a singing teacher in New York.
