Victor Sokolowski
Victor Sokolowski (born February 13, 1911 in Völkermarkt ; † September 6, 1982 in Vienna ) was an Austrian harpsichordist, pianist, organist and music teacher.
Live and act
Sokolowski held a professorship for harpsichord and twelve-tone playing at the Vienna University of Music , where he held courses on twelve-tone playing and the tropes of Josef Matthias Hauer , whose pupil he had become in 1946, from 1976 to 1982 . Sokolowski developed a didactic for this very early on and founded a "Hauer Studio" in 1960.
His students include Robert Michael Weiß and Gerald Schwertberger .
He was buried in an honorary grave in the Dornbacher Friedhof (group 12, number 9) in Vienna, right next to Josef Matthias Hauer. Sokolovsky grave stone bears the inscription: "All my energy and love I have used for the work of Josef Matthias Hauer and for my students." A plaque with relief portrait is on his former home Lichtenfelsgasse 5-7 in Vienna- Inner City .
