Victoria Zinde-Walsh

Victoria Zinde-Walsh (* 1945 ) is a Russian - Canadian economist and university professor .

Life

Zinde-Walsh studied at the Moscow State University . After completing her first scientific training in 1968, she earned a doctorate in mathematics in 1978 . From 1971 she was a researcher at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1980 she left the Soviet Union and went to Canada as a research assistant at the University of Waterloo . Just one year later, she moved to the University of Western Ontario , where she accepted a position as an assistant professor . At the same time, she graduated as a Master of Arts in 1982in Economics from the University of Waterloo. In 1988 she followed a call from McGill University . In Québec she was initially an associate professor before she was appointed full professor of economics there in 2001.

Zinde-Walsh's work focuses on time series analysis and its application in the description of economic processes in the context of econometrics . At times she also gave lectures on the economics of the USSR.

In addition to research and teaching, Zinde-Walsh is also involved in scientific organizations. In particular at the Canadian Economics Association , she held various positions and was part of the editorial work for the Canadian Journal of Economics . In 2010 she succeeded James Brander as president of the organization.
