Vide Cor Meum (“See My Heart”) is an aria by the Irish composer Patrick Cassidy .

The piece of music for two soloists and choir is based on Dante's Vita Nova , especially the sonnet "A ciascun 'alma presa" in Chapter 3.
The first performance of the piece, produced by Patrick Cassidy and Hans Zimmer , was performed by the Libera Choir , accompanied by the Lyndhurst Orchestra under the direction of Gavin Greenaway . The soloists were the soprano Danielle de Niese and the tenor Bruno Lazzaretti in the roles of Beatrice and Dante.
Film music
- Vide Cor Meum became known to a wide audience in the 2001 psychological thriller Hannibal . In the open-air scene of an opera performance in Florence , Hannibal Lecter , played by Anthony Hopkins , sits in the audience and listens to a performance of Vide Cor Meum.
- In Ridley Scott's 2005 historical film Kingdom of Heaven , the piece of music accompanied the death and funeral scene of King Baldwin IV of Jerusalem .
- At the 2001 Academy Awards it was decided to play video Cor Meum as accompanying music for film producer Dino de Laurentiis when he was presented with the honorary Oscars for his life's work.
- At the 53rd Emmy Awards 2001 , Vide Cor Meum was played as the background music for a short film in memory of the victims of the 9/11 attack .
