Vidmantas Povilionis

Vidmantas Povilionis (born May 29, 1948 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian politician and diplomat .

Life

After graduating from the Jonas Jablonskis Middle School in 1966 , Vidmantas Povilionis completed a diploma in chemical technology at the Kauno politechnikos institutas in 1971 . In 1973 he was arrested and sentenced for anti-Soviet activity in the Lithuanian SSR . Until 1975 he was imprisoned in the Barashevo and Potma camps in the Mordovian ASSR . From 1988 to 1990 he studied in the Aspirantur . From 1990 to 1992 he was Deputat des Seimas , from 1994 to 1997 consul in Sejny ( Poland ), from 1997 to 2001 ambassador to Greece .

Povilionis is married to the folk musician Veronika Povilionienė (* 1946).
