The Viessmann wood combustion Ges.mbH (2015: Mawera ) is in Hard in Vorarlberg -based subsidiary of the German Viessmann Group and manufactures heating systems with a capacity up to 13,000 kW. The family company Mawera Ges.mbH, founded in 1975, was taken over by Viessmann in 2006. Since January 2015, the company's company and brand have borne the name of the parent company.

history

The company was founded in 1975. In 1976 a sales and service branch was established in Wels (Upper Austria). In 1979 Mawera built a new company and office building for 15 employees and produced the world's first microprocessor-controlled automatic wood heating system. In 1980 Mawera Kessel & Maschinen GmbH was founded in Lindau (Germany). In 1981 the company received the Bavarian State Prize for the first time, and in 1985 the Austria quality mark was the first in the industry. In 1988, the second award of the Bavarian State Prize followed. In 1989, the state of Vorarlberg awarded the company its first innovation prize . In 1990 the branch in Zwickau ( Saxony ) was founded to open up new markets in Eastern Europe .

In 1991, the largest biomass district heating plant in Italy was built in Olang with a capacity of 2 × 4 megawatts (MW). In 1993 the sales markets were expanded to include Great Britain and Ireland , and in 1996 Mawera Italia srl ​​was founded in Bolzano . In 1998 the company received the innovation award of the state of Vorarlberg for the second time. In 2000 the first combined heat, power and cold water was realized with waste wood, in 2001 the first combined heat and power based on the Stirling engine . In 2002 the company became the state winner AdI (jobs through innovation) and had 120 employees. In 2004 the company received the Vorarlberg innovation award for the third time. Mawera carried out the largest order in the company's history in 2004 with a total heat output of 17.2 MW in Sterzing (Italy). A further expansion of the capacities in 2005 led to a 50% increase in sales.
