Vigeland is a town in the Norwegian municipality of Lindesnes , Province ( Fylke ) Agder . In Tettsted Vigeland live 1,588 inhabitants (as of November 2019) square kilometers in an area of 1.14.

geography

Until the end of 2019, the place was the administrative center of the municipality. In the course of the state- wide municipal reform , the municipality of Lindesnes was merged with Mandal and Marnardal and the place Mandal became the new administrative center on January 1, 2020. The former town hall in Vigeland was subsequently converted into a branch of the town hall in Mandal. At the same time, the place went from the province of Vest-Agder to the new province of Agder.

The European route 39 (E39), which leads from Trondheim to Denmark , runs through Vigeland .

culture and education

In the village there is a statue by the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland , which depicts the pastor Peder Claussøn (1545–1614). There is also a church from 1793, the so-called Valle kirke . Much of the inventory was taken from Claussøn's Church, which was previously a little north of it.

In Vigeland there is a primary school, the Nyplass barneskole and another school, the Vigeland ungdomsskole .
