Vigolvino Wanderley Mariz

Vigolvino Wanderley Mariz (born November 2, 1940 in Caicó ; † July 2, 2020 in Natal ) was a Brazilian politician of the Aliança Renovadora Nacional and the PDS .

Life

Mariz, actually Vigolvino Vanderlei Mariz, was born as the son of diva Vanderlei Mariz and the senator for the state of Rio Grande do Norte , Dinarte Mariz (1903-1984).

He studied law at the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro with a bachelor's degree in law and social sciences.

Between 1974 and 1986 he was elected a federal member of his home state for the 45th to 47th legislative periods . He became a member of the Interior Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies ( Câmara dos Deputados ) and worked in parliament on issues of drought and urban financing in the semi-arid areas of the northeast. From 1987 to 1988 he was State Secretary (State Minister) for Interior and Justice in Rio Grande do Norte at the national political level. In 2008 he tried again, this time for the Partido Social Democrata Cristão (PSDC), to return to politics, but was unsuccessful in the elections for city prefect of Caicó.

He died in July 2020 as a result of COVID-19 . Mariz was married to Elisabete Machado Vieira Mariz, with whom he had three sons, including the city councilor ( vereador ) of Rio de Janeiro Wanderley Mariz.
