Viktor Hirsch

Viktor Hirsch (* around 1940) is a former Austrian table tennis player . He was three times Austrian and one Australian champion.

The first name is sometimes written as Victor .

Career

Hirsch represented Austria at the European Youth Championships in 1957 and 1958. He reached the final in doubles with Hans Zankl . In 1958 he took part in the European Championship for adults, a year later he was nominated for the World Championship in Dortmund. In 1959 and 1960 he won the Austrian championship in singles. In 1960, he took first place in the national ranking.

In 1960 he emigrated to Australia. Here he was Australian champion in singles, doubles (with John Marton) and mixed (with Mrs Suzy Javor) in 1961. After further stints in Sweden and the USA, he returned to Austria in 1966.

In 1967, Hirsch won the Austrian championship again and was nominated again for the world championship in Stockholm. In 1974 he joined the club Sportunion Wolkersdorf , with whose men's team he rose to the State League B in the 1975/76 season. In the early 80s, Hirsch was - like many other former top players - active in the lower divisions of the newly founded TTK Eden.
