Scheck has been involved in a field of landscape painting that is based on Dutch and Japanese traditions since the 1980s. Most of the works are created gradually during long hikes and stays in landscapes near home, as well as in regions in Europe. He had study stays in Sardinia, in the Austrian Waldviertel and in Bohemia.

Ottheinrich project

The largest project to date has been the Ottheinrich project, which took him artistically to the Czech Republic and Poland. It repeats the journey of the Bavarian Duke Ottheinrich , who traveled to Krakow in 1539 and had all the stations of his journey recorded in watercolors . Many of the images created in this way are the oldest surviving views of the location for the respective locations. Viktor Scheck visited all the places on this trip and captured today's views from the same perspective in large watercolors and small miniatures.
