Vila Cova do Covelo is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Penalva do Castelo region in Portugal . The municipality with an area of ​​9.1 km² is inhabited by 210 inhabitants (23.1 inhabitants / km², as of June 30, 2011). 70% of the population are over 60 years. The place lost around 100 residents through emigration to Spain, France and Switzerland in the mid-1980s.

The pastures (lameiros) are one to two kilometers from the village center.
