Vilar do Paraíso is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northwest Portugal .
Vilar do Paraíso is part of the Vila Nova de Gaia county in the Porto district . The community had an area of 5.3 km² and 13,855 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Vilar do Paraíso and Mafamude were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Mafamude e Vilar do Paraíso .
