Mafamude is a Portuguese parish ( freguesia ) in the concelho Vila Nova de Gaia .
Together with the freguesias Santa Marinha , Canidelo and Vilar de Andorinho, it forms the town of Vila Nova de Gaia.
The patron saint of the place is St. Christopher .
The sculptor António Soares dos Reis was born here in 1847, the poet Maria Alberta Menéres in 1930 , and the national soccer player Paula Cristina in 1975 .
