Villa Adelmann
The Villa Adelmann is a villa at Bahnhofstrasse 11 in Heilbronn . The facade of the historic building is a listed building .
history
The building was built in 1870 according to plans by the Stuttgart architect Robert von Reinhardt in the neo-renaissance style for the merchant Eugen Adelmann.
From 1950 at the latest, the building was owned by the paper wholesaler Nestle & Co., which used the ground floor, while Erich Nestle lived on the first floor. In 1961 nothing had changed in that regard.
Today the building houses the school for design of the Kolping educational institution , which otherwise also uses the old train station on the opposite side of Bahnhofstraße.
description
The historicist facade of the villa shows gabled living room windows on the first floor, it is structured by a side elevation and a specially decorated entrance axis. The side elevation is framed by pilasters , while the entrance axis shows a rich architectural sculpture and an artistic entrance portal. In the historical garden there is an ornamental fountain with a seated female figure, which was created in the 1st quarter of the 20th century.
Art historical significance
The building is considered one of the most important examples of historicism in Heilbronn and one of the few surviving works by Robert von Reinhardt.
