The Villa Green Oak is a built in 1922-1924 upper-class villa in Witten , Husemannstraße 17 under since 1984 monument stands.

history

The villa was built on what was then the corner plot of Blücherstraße 17 / Schulstraße for the Jewish Eichengrün family , who were co-owners of the Alsberg & Blank department store in Witten . There was originally a tennis court in their garden.

In the course of the " Aryanization " of Jewish property, the Eichengrün family had to sell the house, the purchase price of 43,000 Reichsmarks (around 184,610 euros based on today's purchasing power), below half the standard value . The villa is thus also a memorial for the Aryanizations in Witten . On April 11, 1939 it was transferred to the NSDAP and was used as a Gaufrauenschaftsschule .

After 1945, the villa was a fiduciary to the tax authorities leased. In 1950 it was returned to the Eichengrün community of heirs for a refund of the purchase price . On November 9, 2018, an information board was put up in front of the house.

architecture

The zweieinhalbgeschossige villa was in the neo-baroque -influenced reform architecture built in the colossal - pilasters and the segment gable of the street facade are neo-classical elements to detect. The mansard hipped roof in particular refers to the baroque design language .
