The "Aryanizations" in Witten were a certain form of robbery of property and possessions of Witten Jews during the National Socialist era . “ Aryanizations ” took place during the Nazi era in Witten and throughout Germany .

As part of the "Aryanizations", Jewish business owners and property owners were first pressured to sell their businesses , companies and real estate below their value and - if they did not want to sell - later expropriated . 14 “business plans” from the years 1933 to 1938 and 53 “property plans” from 1933 to 1943 are documented in Witten. There was also a not exactly manageable number of business liquidations . The furniture of Jews was also expropriated after emigration, forced detention in Jewish houses or deportation . T. before the house auctioned .

Examples of “Aryanizations” are the Alsberg & Blank textile department store on the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Heilenstrasse (today Galeria Kaufhof ), which was sold to the Siegen entrepreneurs Otto Neumann and Dr. Cropp was sold, the shoe store Rosenberg, acquired by Gregor Boecker in 1937 , (today Klauser ) and the Villa Eichengrün in Husemannstrasse, which fell to the NSDAP in 1939 and was used as a Gaufrauenschaftsschule .
