The Villa Hohenfels is a villa building built from 1890 to 1891 in the 13th district of Hietzing in Vienna .

Villa Hohenfels

The factory and house owner Karoline Tobisch had a two-storey palace-like villa built on the site of the former New World entertainment establishment . The designs came from Karl Scheffler , the building master was Johann Sturany . In 1894 Alfred Freiherr von Berger became the owner of the villa and his wife Stella von Hohenfels-Berger gave the villa its name.

The facades are kept in a historical style. Above all, Italian Renaissance elements and baroque details in the central part of the north side were used.

Villa Nelly Altmann

In 1920 the villa came into the possession of Sigmund Sachsel. In the same year he sold the villa to the manufacturer Bernhard Altmann . In 1921, the entrepreneur had a main entrance built on the west side with a staircase to the mezzanine floor. In 1924 he expanded the villa on the south side, especially since Karl Schreffler's design did not take sun and light into account. The Altmann family was expropriated by the National Socialists in 1938.

Post-war use

In 1947 the property was returned to Nelly Altmann and she subsequently had three separate apartments built. After that, a construction company and a computer company were housed in the building. In 1989/90 the villa was completely renovated, whereby the historical inventory was well preserved and mansard windows are installed in the roof area due to the attic expansion. The building is currently used as an office for a construction design company.
