history
Vilmorin was founded in 1742 as a plant and seed business by the seed expert Claude Geoffroy and her husband Pierre Andrieux , the chief gardener of King Louis XV. , founded as "Coq de la Bonne Foy". The shop was located on Quai de la Mégisserie in Paris . In 1774 their daughter Adelaide married the botanist Philippe-Victoire Levêque de Vilmorin (1746–1804). Philippe-Victoire de Vilmorin began importing tree species and exotic plants in 1766. Among these was the turnip .
