The UAB Vilniaus AUTOBUSAI was a transport company, which together with troleibusai Vilniaus the public transport in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius operation.

history

On November 18, 1945 the bus service was established in Vilnius. On March 13, 1946, the first permanent line was opened: Žvėrynas - Vilnius Railway Station . From 1959 the bus company was called Vilniaus autobusų parkas (German Bus Park Vilnius ). In 1964 a new location was built for the existing bus fleet. On November 23, 1990, a new company was registered in Verkiai . In 1995 the company was transformed into a private company, called 'Special Purpose UAB' (SP UAB, Specialios paskirties UAB ) and then into a "simple" UAB, the sole shareholder of which was the City of Vilnius . In spring 2003 the name was changed to Vilniaus autobusai . From 1990 to August 24, 2000 "Vilniaus autobusai" was directed by Gintaras Nakutis. On November 17, 2011, the company was dissolved after the reorganization. Now the new company Vilniaus viešasis transportas exists .

The vehicle fleet initially consisted of 17 old German and Soviet army buses. During the time of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic , Ikarus buses were always used. Later, Karosa , - Volvo - and other buses added.
