Žvėrynas (from Lithuanian žvėris : 'wild animal'; Russian Зверинец, Polish Zwierzyniec ) is a district of Vilnius located in the northwestern part of the city and on the right bank of the Neris . The district is connected by two bridges and a pedestrian bridge that lead to Vingis Park . Žvėrynas has many old houses and a lot of green space . Žvėrynas has around 12,200 inhabitants.

history

Originally Žvėrynas belonged to Radziwill. In 1825 a summer house was built, which became the residence of the Governor General of the Vilnius Administrative Division.
