The Vingio parkas ( Vingis Park ) is a city park and resort in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius , to the curve of the Neri . The area is 162 ha . There is a bog in the south-eastern part of the park . In the western area is part of the Vilnius University Botanical Garden . The Vingis Park is a major event location.

history

Mass events have been held here since 1960 . The song festival , the school song festival and various other concerts are organized in the Vingis Park . There were Lady Gaga , Andrea Bocelli , Elton John , Björk , Sting , Rod Stewart , Depeche Mode , Lithuanian bands like Foje , Antis and others. During perestroika (1988-1991) people sang at national gatherings and peaceful demonstrations (see Singing Revolution ). Release concerts by Lithuanian bands often take place here in the summer, such as the album release by the neofolk group Sen Svaja .
