Lorenz Hirn (born April 20, 1990 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper , who last played in the Inter-National League for VEU Feldkirch , and coach.

Career

Lorenz Hirn went through the various youth teams of the VEU Feldkirch and made his debut in the fighting team in the National League , Austria's second highest division , in the 2007/08 season . The club had originally pursued the plan to contest the season with Hirn and Michael Gruber as a young goalkeeper duo, but this was not successful, so that first Ville Hostikka and then Mikko Rämö replaced the two. In the summer of 2008 he signed a contract with the first division club EHC Linz , where he served as a backup goalkeeper behind the American Alex Westlund and at the same time guarded the goal with Christoph Lindenhofer on the farm team in the National League. After the end of the 2013/14 season, he initially ended his career. At the beginning of 2016 he was reactivated by his home club and played twice in the playoffs of the Inter-National League for VEU .

International

Hirn played for Austria at the U18 World Cup in 2008 and the U20 World Cup in 2009 in Division I. After promotion in 2009, he joined the Austrian U20 team at the 2010 World Cup in the top division and acted as the first goalkeeper Marco Wieser .

Coaching

After the end of his playing activity at EHC Linz, Hirn started a coaching career and entered the service of the Austrian association . He looked after the goalkeepers of the Alpine country's U18 team at the 2015 , 2016 and 2017 World Championships in Division I.
