The 2007/08 season of the Austrian national ice hockey league was played with nine teams. Defending champion was the VEU Feldkirch , which however could not repeat the success. EC-TREND Dornbirn became the new champion .
The basic round of the second highest Austrian league started on September 15, 2007 and ended on February 13, 2008, the points were halved after 16 rounds. Of the nine teams, the best eight qualified for the quarter-finals, the EHC Bregenzerwald was eliminated. All play-off matches were played in the best of five mode. Won the title of the EC-TREND Dornbirn , which in the final against the farm team of the Red Bulls Salzburg won out.
Basic round
The basic season began on September 15, 2007 and lasted a total of 32 match days until February 13, 2008. Compared to the previous and following seasons, the season was relatively even, with seven teams fighting for the top places in the table. Only the league newcomer EHC Team Vienna fell slightly in comparison and could only win seven games. It was even worse for the EHC Bregenzerwald, which only won its first win (after a penalty shoot-out) in the tenth round and only achieved three successes in total.
There were also some transfers to the book: Before the season, VEU Feldkirch had planned with the two young goalkeepers Michael Gruber and Lorenz Hirn , but neither of them could meet the expectations placed in them. As a result, Ville Veikko Hostikka was taken on loan from the Finnish first division club Saimaan Pallo , who had to be replaced by Mikko Rämö in the middle of the season . After the mixed start of the season, VEU was able to work its way up to fourth place in the table.
In the end, EC-TREND Dornbirn took first place, closely followed by EHC Lustenau, where the two Finns Toni Saarinen and Tommy Kiviaho were the undisputed top scorers with 100 and 90 points respectively. It was followed by three teams, Salzburg, Feldkirch and Zell am See, which were only separated by one point. Zeltweg, the KSV ice hockey club and the EHC Team Vienna closed the field of playoff participants. The EHC Bregenzerwald was beaten in last place and was the only team not in the playoff ranks, which had once again shown that the level of the national league was too high for the team.

Play-offs
As expected, the quarter-finals of the playoffs did not bring any surprises. The table leaders Lustenau and Dornbirn clearly defeated their respective competitors with 3-0 wins. The VEU Feldkirch had a little more trouble, which lost the second game against EK Zell am See 2: 4. In game number three, the Zeller Eisbären were defeated 13-0, from which they no longer recovered and were finally eliminated in the fourth game. Salzburg could only defeat EV Zeltweg in the fifth and decisive game of the series and thus provided the last semi-final participant.
The semi-finals were also close, but there was a somewhat surprising outcome. The Salzburg team prevailed with 3: 1 wins against EHC Lustenau and thus secured their place in the finals.
Dornbirn was only just able to prevail in overtime in the first game and even had to give up the second game on foreign ice. The third game was also decided in overtime. Dornbirn ultimately used the match puck 5: 4 and thus secured the championship title of the 2007/08 season.
