The Bundesliga clubs Salzburg and Linz had registered so-called farm teams in the National League in order to introduce their young players to the level of the Bundesliga.

Competition mode

Two rounds were played back and forth, after the first round, the points were halved. The winner of an encounter received 2 points, in the event of a tie both teams received one point - in addition, a 5-minute " Sudden Victory Overtime " stoppage time was played, in which both teams were only allowed to play 4 players. If no goal was scored here, a penalty shoot-out was played. The final winner received one more point.

All 8 teams reached the play-off, in which the 1st played against the 8th and so on. The quarter-finals were played in best-of-three mode, the remaining play-off matches were played in best-of-five mode.
