Bernhard Bock (born December 26, 1980 in Graz ) is an Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with VEU Feldkirch in the Austrian National League since 2012 .

Career

Bernhard Bock began his career in the nineties in the youth teams of the no longer existing EC Graz and made his first appearances as a substitute goalkeeper there quite early. In 1998 he ventured abroad and switched to the Ratinger Ice Aliens , where he only played nine games and could not convince. So he returned to Austria and spent a season at VEU Feldkirch , where he also played for the first time in the Austrian ice hockey league . But it was only after moving to EK Zell am See that he came to regular appearances and shared the position of first goalkeeper with Patrick Machreich . For the 2001/02 season he signed a contract with EHC Lustenau , where he shared the Ice Age with Jürgen Penker for the next two years .

However, since he could not prevail in Lustenau, he returned to EK Zell am See, which was now active in the National League , Austria's second highest division. There he made the jump to the first goalkeeper, but retired with the team in the semi-finals. In the following year he did well again, but was eventually replaced by former KAC goalkeeper Michael Suttnig , who moved to Zell from league competitor EC Red Bull Salzburg . The following year, Bock went the opposite way and switched to the Salzburg team. There he was mainly used as a substitute goalkeeper in the Bundesliga and continued to play in the club's farm team in the national league. In the 2006/07 season he recorded 2.65 goals conceded per game, the lowest average conceded goals in the league, although he was still only number two behind Reinhard Divis .

In the following season he was signed by the EC Graz 99ers , who wanted to establish an Austrian solution for the goalkeeper position with him and the former Innsbruck goalkeeper Claus Dalpiaz , but this did not succeed due to an extremely poor team performance . Bock was released from his contract and returned to the National League, where he played at EC-TREND Dornbirn from 2008 to 2010 and was able to achieve the runner-up title with the club in the 2008/09 season . In the following season, the club established itself in the front half of the table. In order to increase the chances in the playoffs, however, at the beginning of 2010 Bock was appointed a Bundesliga goalkeeper with Hannes Enzenhofer . From 2010 to 2011 Bock played for his ex-club EHC Lustenau in the national league.

Bernhard Bock was called up four times in the youth teams of Austria, but could never recommend himself for the senior national team.
