Hannes Enzenhofer (born June 12, 1981 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia ) is an Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper . He has been playing for the Dornbirner EC since 2010 and was promoted to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga in 2012 .

Career

Enzenhofer began his career at a very young age with the Austrian record champions EC KAC and was able to establish himself as a substitute goalkeeper from the 1999/00 season through various youth teams. In the 2004/05 season he took over temporarily, due to an injury to the Einsergoalies Andrew Verner , his position, but could not convince due to mixed performances. In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, the two goalies acted together as the first goalkeepers, with Enzenhofer consistently performing better. Because of this, the club decided after leaving the playoffs in February 2008 to commit him as a Einsergoalie from the 2008/09 season. The young René Swette from EHC Lustenau is at his side as a backup . At the beginning of December 2008, Enzenhofer was injured. He suffered a rupture of the Syndesmosis ligament and was therefore out for the rest of the season. The EC KAC reacted to this injury by signing Travis Scott , who took over Enzenhofer's position until the end of the season. Since the 2009/10 season , however, Swette acted as the first goalkeeper, which Enzenhofer was once again number two. When Jordan Parise was signed at the end of 2009 , Enzenhofer slipped back into the third line and changed clubs for the first time in his career. Just before the start of the 2010 playoffs, he signed a contract with EC Dornbirn from the National League, where he forms the goalkeeper duo with Bernhard Bock .

Enzenhofer made his first appearance in the national team in 2005 at the Universiade in Innsbruck , where he formed the goalkeeper duo with Patrick Machreich. Austria came fourth among the twelve participating nations. In January 2008 he acted as backup for Jürgen Penker at a tournament of the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge in Poland. At the beginning of April 2008 he was in further test matches for the Division 1 World Cup and scored a shutout against Team Denmark.

Hannes Enzenhofer is generally considered to be a calm character. In the 2007/08 season he still had a fight with Claus Dalpiaz , the goalkeeper of the Graz 99ers , when he attacked a player from the EC KAC with a stick in a precarious situation, and was suspended for two games.
