Claus Dalpiaz (born October 10, 1971 in Kufstein ) is a former Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper . With over 140 appearances for the national team, he is the record holder among the Austrian ice hockey goalkeepers.

Player career

As a young goalkeeper, Claus Dalpiaz moved from HC Kufstein to the SB Rosenheim club , with whom he played in the German ice hockey Bundesliga for the first time in 1989 . After three seasons he moved to Austria for VEU Feldkirch , where he played from 1993 to 1995.

For the 1995/96 season he moved back to Rosenheim, where he played in the DEL with the Starbulls Rosenheim professional team, which has since been spun off from the main club , and stayed there until 1998/1999 . After his contract in Rosenheim expired, Dalpiaz moved to EC Bad Nauheim in the second German league , in which he only played one season.

In 2000/2001 he went to HC Innsbruck , where he stayed under contract for seven seasons and was able to record great successes and good statistics. His number 31 was declared a blocked number at the end of the 2006/2007 season, which means that Innsbruck is no longer assigned the number.

After Claus Dalpiaz no longer received a contract for the 2007/2008 season due to the commitment of Seamus Kotyk from HCI , he signed a two-year contract with EC Graz 99ers . After the penultimate place, the 99ers announced a new team of goalkeepers for the next season, despite ongoing contracts. In July, the Starbulls Rosenheim announced the signing of Claus Dalpiaz. Claus Dalpiaz later received German citizenship. For the 2010/11 season, Claus Dalpiaz no longer received a contract from Starbulls Rosenheim and Dalpiaz returned to his home club, HC Kufstein. He and his brother Christian have coached the elite league team there since 2011.

Claus Dalpiaz now lives in Neubeuert and is married.
