Marco Wieser (born December 15, 1990 in Villach ) is a former Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the EC VSV in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

Marco Wieser began his career as a teenager at EC VSV . There he was for several years the goalkeeper of the U20 team, with whom he became Austrian junior champion in 2007 and 2008. However, he did not get a professional contract because the goalkeeper position at the EC VSV was long-term occupied by Bernhard Starkbaum . On March 13, 2007 Marco Wieser came in the 2007/08 season in the Austrian ice hockey league in the away game against HC TWK Innsbruck for the first time as a goalkeeper.

For the 2009/10 season Wieser went to North America, where he moved to the North American Hockey League for the Alpena IceDiggers. After a thoroughly successful season, his first year in North America ends with the sale of the IceDiggers franchise. Wieser then tried unsuccessfully in the training camp of the USHL team from Youngstown and returned to the Alpena successor team, the Corpus Christi Ice Rays. In the further course of the season he also played for the New Mexico Mustangs in the NAHL.

For the 2011/12 season Wieser returned to his home club EC VSV in Austria. After he was still unable to assert himself - he only played three games in the ÖEHL in the 2011/12 season - he ended his career.

International

In the junior division, Wieser participated with Austrian teams in the U18 World Championships in 2007 and 2008 as well as in the U20 World Cup in 2009 in Division I. After he had made a significant contribution to the promotion to the top division in 2009 with the best catch quota and the best goals against goals, he played in the top division with the Austrian U20 team at the 2010 World Cup .
