Aukštieji Paneriai ( Polish Ponary , Yiddish פּאָנאַר) is a south-western part of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius , west of the Paneriai railway tunnel . It is located in a wooded area. In Paneriai there is the Paneriai Train Station , the Paneriai Sculpture Park and the Paneriai Memorial . Formerly a well-known and popular excursion destination for the city population, Paneriai became the scene of a mass execution of Baltic Jews from autumn 1941 .
