Vinasat 2 is a commercial Vietnamese communications satellite owned by the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

Structure and Mission

It was launched into geostationary orbit on May 15, 2012 at 10:13 pm UTC with an Ariane 5 ECA from the Center Spatial Guyanais along with JCSAT-13 .

The three-axis stabilized satellite with 24 Ku-band - transponders equipped and is on the position of 131.8 degrees East, Vietnam , Laos , Cambodia , Thailand , Myanmar , Singapore and parts of Malaysia to supply telecommunications services. It was built on the basis of the A2100A satellite bus from Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems and has a planned service life of 15 years. The contract to build the satellite was signed in May 2010. The satellite is controlled and monitored on behalf of VNPT by Vietnam Telecom International (VTI) from the Qui Duong control center in Hanoi .
