Vincent Foix

Vincent Foix (born January 22, 1857 in Narrosse , Landes , † April 30, 1932 in Laurède , Landes ) was a French Romance scholar , Occitanist, dialectologist and lexicographer.

Life

After his ordination, the abbé Foix was chaplain in Magescq and Mugron, then from 1887 pastor of Laurède, Landes , for 45 years . During the entire time he worked, he collected documents and information on local and regional history and language. He was a member of the Escòla Gaston Fèbus (founded in 1896) and from 1913 to 1931 General Secretary of the Société de Borda in Dax . He left behind extensive manuscript material that is stored in the archives of the Landes department.
