Vincent Huguet

Vincent Huguet (* 1976 in Montpellier ) is a French historian , art historian and opera director .

Career

Vincent Huguet completed a classical artistic training. He began studying at the École normal supérieure de Fontenay / Saint-Cloud and became a history teacher in 2000, then he specialized in older and contemporary art. From 2001 to 2007 he published books and essays on art subjects. In the meantime he began to work regularly as an art critic. Then he discussed subjects in the visual arts, classical music and opera.

In 2008 Huguet met Patrice Chéreau , where he assisted several times. In 2011 he took part in the “Opera in Creation” workshops of the European Academy for the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence , with a production under the direction of Péter Eötvös . In 2012 he assisted Jean-Paul Scarpitta in his production of Nozze di Figaro at the Opéra National de Montpellier . In 2013 he took part in Chereau's production of Elektra at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, which was shown at La Scala in Milan in 2014 and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2016 . His first own production was Leo Delibes Lakmé .

In 2019, at the invitation of Dominique Meyer, his production of Richard Strauss ' Die Frau ohne Schatten came out on the occasion of the anniversary of the Vienna State Opera .
