Vincent Pasquale Biunno

Vincent Pasquale Biunno (born February 2, 1916 in Newark , New Jersey , †  July 30, 1991 in Passaic , New Jersey) was an American lawyer . After his appointment by President Richard Nixon , he served as a federal judge in the federal district court for the district of New Jersey from 1973 .

Career

Vincent Biunno attended the New Jersey Law School in Newark after graduating from school , where he received his Bachelor of Laws in 1937 . He then practiced as a lawyer in Newark until 1958. This time was interrupted by his service in the US Army between 1942 and 1943. He last held the rank of private . From 1954 to 1957 he was a lecturer at the School of Law at Rutgers University in Newark. After serving as legal advisor to New Jersey Governor Robert B. Meyner between 1958 and 1960, he returned to his private practice, which he ran until 1973. During that period he also served on the board of directors of Newark-based Prudential Insurance Company .

On February 21, 1973, Biunno was appointed Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey by President Nixon to succeed the late Robert Shaw . After confirmation by the US Senate on April 10 of the same year, he was able to take office seven days later. On March 23, 1982, he changed to senior status , effectively retiring. His seat fell to John Winslow Bissell . Vincent Biunno died on July 30, 1991 in Passaic and was buried in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair .
