(Giovanni) Vincenzo Bracco (born September 14, 1835 in Torazzo , Italy , † June 19, 1889 in Jerusalem ) was Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem .

Life

Bracco studied in Porto Maurizio and at the Alberga Seminar, from 1855 at the Collegio Brignole Sale in Genoa. He was ordained a priest on June 18, 1859 . In 1860 he came to Jerusalem as a missionary. He taught philosophy and was rector of the seminary in Jerusalem from 1862 until his death .

Pope Pius IX appointed Vincenzo Bracco in 1866 titular bishop of Magydus and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Jerusalem. He was ordained bishop on May 13, 1866 by the incumbent Patriarch Giuseppe Valerga ; Co-consecrators were the Apostolic Vicar of the Gallans and later Cardinal Wilhelm Massaia OFMCap as well as an Armenian bishop. In addition to his bishopric, he was also vicar general .

In 1866 Pius IX appointed him. to the Patriarch of Jerusalem , the only Roman Catholic Patriarch in the east .

From 1872 until his death in 1889 he was Grand Master of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher .

He died of complications from pneumonia and was buried in the Church of the Patriarchate, opposite his predecessor Valerga.
