Vincenzo Guarana
Vincenzo Guarana (born July 22, 1742 in Venice , † 1815 there) was an Italian painter.
Life
Vincenzo Guarana, son of Caterina Girelli, first learned in the workshop of his father Jacopo Guarana . In 1761 he became a member of the painters' guild and in 1774 he became a member of the Accademia di belle arti di Venezia . From 1799 to 1802 he was its president.
Guarana focused on religious and historical subjects. So in 1774 the Cattura di Sansone (expulsion of Samson ) was created, in 1777 Massinissa che invia il veleno a Sofonisba ( Massinissa gives Sophonisbe the poison), a history painting that received an award from the Accademia of Parma . He received further second prizes for Morte di Pallante figlio di Evandro (death of Pallas son of Euandros ) and Enea ed Acate parlano con Venere ( Aeneas and Agates talk to Venus ). S. Romualdo e l'imperatore Ottone (St. Romuald and Emperor Otto) is in the depository of Ca 'Farsetti . He worked with his father on the decorative cycles of the Palazzo Barbarigo della Terrazza . In 1780 he worked at the Church of San Tomà . He also created a number of portraits, such as the Ritratto dei tre avogadori in the Doge's Palace , the portrait of Procuratore Alvise Contarini and that of Ludovico Manin .
